What
can I learn in the Heavy Equipment Operator trade?
You
can be trained to become entry-level heavy construction equipment
operators.
During your
training you can obtain the skills needed to operate several different
types of construction equipment, including
bulldozers, front-end loaders, backhoes,
graders, scrapers, rollers and forklifts, and apply the
skills in a work environment.
You can
have the opportunity to become skilled in a variety of functions on the
equipment. You can learn how to read and set grade stakes to assist
in project engineering. You can be involved in classroom-related
education in addition to the hand-on training. There is a heavy emphasis
on safety so that you can be able to operate the equipment in a safe and
effective manner. |

| How much money do Heavy Equipment Operators make?
Heavy Equipment Operators who start as apprentices can make as much as
$18.00 per hour. Based on your ability and
experience, after apprenticeship, you can make as much as $28 per hour.
Your salary will be dependent on how skilled you become at Job Corps, your
apprenticeship experience and where you begin working. |
