Local 57's Heavy Equipment Operator Training School is located in Johnston, Rhode Island on 15 acres. The facility has one classroom and a welding shop. We have 1 full-time and 5 part-time instructors and 31 apprentices. All Local 57 members have access to classoom and hands-on training for a variety of topics including mechanics, excavators, graders, dozers, grade checking, pavers, CDL, CCO, forklift   certification, OSHA-10 safety and hazmat, fabrication, welding, lattice boom and hydraulic cranes and a 40-ton rough terrain crane simulator. Local 57 is very involved in its community constructing and maintaining ball fields, working with the Department of Parks and Recreation and recently doing all the excavation site work for the Rhode Island State Police Museum.
