James J. White
Twelfth Vice President
Elected an International Vice President in December 2022. Jim is a fourth generation Operating Engineer who began his career with Local 57 as an Apprentice in 1978. Most of his time in the field was spent as a crane operator working on marine construction and steel erection projects. He was an instructor for the Local 57 Apprenticeship Program for sixteen years. He served as an Organizer and Business Agent from 1999 until he became the Business Manager and President of Local 57 in 2008. He is the Secretary of the Northeastern States Conference of Operating Engineers. He is the Secretary of the Rhode Island Hoisting Engineers Licensing Board. He was appointed as a Trustee to the International's General Pension Fund in 2019. Jim is a veteran who served as a Petty Officer First Class with the Navy Seabees.
