The International Training & Education Center (ITEC) is IUOE’s flagship training facility and the most comprehensive training center for union Operating and Stationary Engineers in North America. Located in Texas, ITEC was purpose-built to support advanced, hands-on training that reflects the real-world demands of today’s construction, pipeline, energy, industrial, and facilities operations.
Designed by IUOE training leaders and industry experts, ITEC enhances and expands the training delivered through local union programs. The center serves members, instructors, and staff by providing an immersive learning environment that supports skill advancement, safety excellence, and workforce readiness—while reinforcing IUOE’s commitment to high-quality training for signatory contractors, owners, and industry partners.
A Training Facility Built for Real-World Learning
ITEC’s campus was designed specifically to support large-scale, hands-on training across multiple trades and disciplines. The facility allows training to move seamlessly between classroom instruction, simulation, and live equipment environments—giving members the opportunity to build confidence and technical expertise in realistic conditions. This infrastructure allows ITEC to host complex training programs that cannot be replicated in traditional classroom-only settings.
ITEC features include:
- 265-acre campus designed for large-scale field training
- 23 classrooms and laboratories
- 15+ pad crane field supporting hoisting and crane operations
- Advanced simulator rooms
- Heavy equipment mechanics shop and welding bays
- High-end mechanical, electrical, and automation systems
- Central utility plant built with training redundancies
- 8,120-square-foot conference space with seating for up to 900
- On-site lodging, including a 227-room dormitory, fitness center, and full dining facilities
- Convenient access to major Houston-area airports
Training Programs at ITEC
Courses offered at ITEC complement training provided by local unions and are designed to address emerging technologies, evolving equipment, and industry-specific needs. ITEC supports a wide range of advanced and specialized training programs, including:
- Operating Engineer training
- Stationary Engineer training
- Pipeline and energy operations training
- Instructor development and advanced certification programs
