Lions Gate Bridge

The Lions Gate Bridge, also known as the First Narrows Bridge, opened in 1938 as the longest suspension bridge in the British Empire.

The original construction employed dozens of IUOE engineers from Local 115. In the 2000s, Local 115 members updated the roadway by replacing individual deck sections overnight to allow the bridge to remain open to traffic during daylight — an industry first.
