Staples Center

Beginning in March 1998, IUOE members worked at warp speed on an abbreviated 18-month timeline to complete the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. Billed as the Sports and Entertainment Center of the World, the venue opened on October 17, 1999 with Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band’s fans packing the arena, which seats about 20,000 for concerts.
