The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) is a truly international organization, proudly representing more than 50,000 members across Canada. Working with the same pride, professionalism, and determination as their fellow members throughout North America, IUOE members in Canada are among the safest, most productive, and highly skilled tradespeople in the country. Their work supports critical infrastructure, strengthens communities, and contributes to a strong and resilient Canadian economy.

Founded in 1896, IUOE today represents approximately 400,000 members across 105 local unions throughout North America. The union is dedicated to advancing the common interests of its members—protecting fair wages on public projects, strengthening access to healthcare and retirement security, improving training and safety standards, and supporting the competitiveness of signatory contractors.

IUOE Canada is proud to be affiliated with the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), reinforcing its commitment to strong labour representation on both sides of the border.
