INTRO TO PIPELINE TRAINING - SIDEBOOM
INTRO TO PIPELINE TRAINING - SIDEBOOM

This class is a one-week course. The course schedule is 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, Monday-Saturday. A typical day will consist classroom training followed by practical field training. This class will consist of 1 instructor and 4 students. This class is intended for experienced excavator operators.

This class is a one week course. The course schedule is 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, Monday-Saturday. A typical class will consist of classroom training followed by practical field training. This class is intended for experienced excavator operators.

EXCAVATION FOR EXISTING LIVE PIPELINES

This class is a two week course; 12 days total, Monday-Saturday, the class runs 10 hours a day. A typical day will consist of two hours of classroom instruction followed by 8 hours of actual field training. The class will have one instructor and six students. This class is intended for experienced excavator operators.

ANGLE DOZER - INTERMEDIATE CLASS

This class is a three week course. The course schedule is 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, Monday-Saturday. A typical day will consist of 2 hours of classroom training followed by 8 hours of practical field training. Classes are intended for experienced operators, although apprentices with journeyman level skills are encouraged to apply. A proficiency test will be given at the beginning of the course.

This class is one week in length; six days total, Monday-Saturday, the class runs 10 hours a day consisting of 2 hours classroom followed by 8 hours of practical field training. The class will have one instructor and 5 students per class. Classes are intended for experienced excavator operators. A proficiency test will be given at the beginning of the course to verify abilities.

This class is a three week course. The course schedule is 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, Monday-Saturday. A typical day will consist of a morning tailgate meeting followed by 10 hours of practical field training. Classes are intended for experienced operators, although apprentices with journeyman level skills are encouraged to apply. A proficiency test will be given at the beginning of the course.

This class is one week in length; six days total, Monday-Saturday, the class runs 10 hours a day consisting of 2 hours classroom followed by 8 hours of practical field training. The class will have one instructor and 4 students per class. Classes are intended for experienced excavator operators. This class is one week in length; six days total, Monday-Saturday, the class runs 10 hours a day. Classes are intended for members with mathematical skills. This course will prepare you for working in the pipe bending operations of a pipeline project.

This class is a three week course. The course schedule is 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, Monday-Saturday. A typical day will consist of 2 hours of classroom training followed by 8 hours of practical field training.

Application

Application Process - Step by Step

Step 1  Access the schedule HERE.  Review the class descriptions and decide which class is best for you and your skill level. If you have in-depth questions, or need more information than what is included in the downloadable packets above, please contact NPTF Assistant Director James Granville (jgranville@iuoe.org) or NPTF Director Bryan Abel (babel@iuoe.org) for clarification.

Step 2  Choose a class whose dates will work with your schedule, be mindful if a class commences or concludes around your work/vacation plans.

Step 3  Complete the application and submit. After you submit your application, it is reviewed for approval at the Local and the International level. Once your application is approved, you will receive an email with instructions to complete a travel request. 

Step 4  Fill out and submit your travel request. Travel will be booked by the International and they will contact you via email with your travel information.

PPE (hard hat, safety vest, gloves etc.)
Two pairs of boots, one pair for inside the training center and one pair for out in the field

Yes, there will be a half hour lunch break everyday with lunch being provided by the NPTF.

October – May and various times throughout the year.
Classes run 6 days a week, 10 hours a day.
Classes start at 7 A.M. sharp!

The training does not cost the member anything, if your membership dues are current you are eligible for training.
Lodging is provided for the member.
Airline travel to the International Training and Conference Center in Crosby, Texas as well as the training facilities of IUOE Local 181 Boston, KY are provided for the member. 

Due to the time constraints involved with booking airline travel please note that all applications for the ITEC in Crosby, TX classes must be submitted no later than twenty-one days before the class begins. For the Local 181 facility in Boston, KY, applications must be received no later than fourteen days before the class is scheduled to start. Applications that do not meet these requirements will be declined.

Yes, lodging is provided at no cost to the member. Single occupancy rooms are included whether the training takes place in Crosby, Texas or Boston, Kentucky. Attendees training at ITEC are required to stay onsite during training unless a trainee lives 65 miles or closer to the training facility.
