Pre-Apprenticeship Pathways
Pre-Apprenticeship Pathways
Not everyone starts their journey in the same place. IUOE supports pre-apprenticeship pathways that help individuals build foundational skills, explore the trades, and prepare for entry into an apprenticeship program. These pathways are designed to remove barriers to entry and connect participants with training, guidance, and career opportunities in the skilled trades. Whether you are just beginning to explore the trades or transitioning from military service, these programs can help you take the first step toward a career with IUOE.
Job Corps
Through partnerships with the U.S. Department of Labor, IUOE participates in the Job Corps program, providing pre-apprenticeship training for young people ages 16–24. These programs introduce participants to the trades, develop essential skills, and help prepare individuals for successful entry into IUOE apprenticeship programs. Learn more here.
Helmets to Hardhats
IUOE is a proud participant in Helmets to Hardhats, a national nonprofit program that connects transitioning active-duty service members, veterans, National Guard, and Reservists with training and career opportunities in the construction and skilled trades. Learn more here.
Find an IUOE Local
